We appreciate your cooperation and understanding at this uncertain time. We have been working extremely hard to agree cover for customers impacted by the sudden outbreak and mass spread of novel coronavirus across the globe.
As a result, we have amended our information to reflect the cover that we have agreed with our travel insurer.
The current outbreak of novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) was first reported from Wuhan, China, on 31st December 2019. This outbreak has since been reported widely in the media and by authorities such as the World Health Organisation (WHO) https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019, and it continues to make headlines around the world.
On 31st January 2020, the WHO deemed the coronavirus outbreak to be an international health emergency and has since been considered a known event in the insurance industry. Subsequently, on 11th March 2020, the WHO officially deemed the coronavirus outbreak a pandemic.
We’ve provided the details below as a guide to cover eligibility in respect of our Scout and Girlguiding travel policies and the novel coronavirus outbreak.
Cover under your travel policy will be dependent on a number of things including:
Your cover is subject to the standard policy terms and claims will be assessed on a case by case basis.
Before you make any further payments for future trips, please check with us. We will then be able to provide you with guidance as to how your policy will respond.
If you are unable to travel due to current FCO travel restrictions, we advise you in the first instance to contact your airline, accommodation and tour providers immediately to assess your cancellation or rescheduling entitlements. Once you have done that, a claim for irrecoverable travel and accommodation expenses can be submitted.
You should check the FCO website for the latest advice. https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice
